Details:

Snønipa is a sporty lightweight cardigan in soft merino wool with a high neck and full length 2-way zipper. It features a navy blue racing stripe down the sleeve and Norwegian flag stripes across the elbows. The main pattern from the iconic Cortina 1956 sweater.

Design Notes:

The cardigan derives its name from the mountain Snønipa (1827 meters above sea level). Snønipa is a nunatak, meaning a mountain peak sticking up through a glacier, in this case the Myklebust glacier in Vestland county. In other words, Snønipa is surrounded by snow all year round, hence the name.
(A “nipe” is a pointy mountain peak, an inclining rock tip with a steep front. “Nipe” probably comes from the Old Norse “hnipa”, meaning “to hang with your head”).
