Dale of Norway - Ramberg Men's Crewneck Sweater

Steel/Marine/Mountainstone, 96131-H00

Details:

The Ramberg Men's Sweater – where urban edge meets Norwegian heritage. It is a bold reimagining of tradition that fuses classic Norwegian knitwear with contemporary street-style sensibility. The Dale of Norway Ramberg Men's Sweater is designed with a relaxed fit and drop shoulders. It is a modern pullover that delivers all-day comfort with a distinctive edge.
The Ramberg men's sweater is inspired by Dale of Norway's iconic Fana sweater. It is an update to historical patterns with striking contrast stripes at the collar, cuffs, and hem, along with intricate ribbed shoulder detailing. The design features a rounded eight-petal rose motif across the chest and a traditional lice pattern in the stripes, giving a nod to centuries-old Norwegian textile art - while reinterpreting it for today’s wardrobe.
What truly sets the Ramberg men's sweater apart is its multi-colored yarn blend, creating depth and vibrancy with an urban, modern aesthetic. Whether layered over denim or styled with tailored pieces, the Dale of Norway Ramberg Sweater is a statement sweater that bridges the gap between old-world craftsmanship and fresh, contemporary design.

Design Notes:

The Ramberg sweater draws its inspiration from the traditional Fana sweater. Originating in Fana, a borough of Bergen, the striped sweaters were historically worn by men for everyday use and became a staple of local attire. Known as "Stripetroye," these striped sweaters also served as undergarments for marines, offering warmth and comfort beneath their uniforms. Women in Fana added their own flair to this heritage by wearing Fana sweaters beneath their bodices as part of their folk dress.

Ramberg is a village of around 350 people, nestled in the breathtaking Lofoten archipelago, surrounded by pristine beaches and sharp, towering mountain peaks. Fittingly, the name translates to “frame” and “mountain”.
